That sounds like a hardware problem.. Linux is subject to the
limitations of the hardware upon which it runs, and I bet that
computer wouldn't keep any better time under DOS either. :)

Seriously tho, if that Linux box has a connection to the net, you
can set a cron job to run "rdate -s world.std.com" daily to sync
system time.
