That's not true speedup and I personally don't much care for the result, 
since it's achieved by chopping the length of pauses between words and 
sentences. I was really hoping for something similar to the variable speed 
with pitch restoration that we already see on the Handi-Cassette II, 
although I realize it would have to be done very differently from a 
technical point of view, since there's no moving tape on which you can just 
vary the speed.

Hi Cy!

You can already speed up (compress) speech on the MP3 files you transfer to
the bookport. So just go into the audio options of book port transfer and
just do it.
