Hi Sandy and list:

I don't know if there was an attempt to keep that podcast quiet or not, but I have noticed a bit of a trend in recent Main Menu programmes. The show is made up of a short introduction by Jeff, followed by a file that I've already heard before. Now I'm not saying that the show this week will be that way, but I'll listen and find out if my podcatcher works successfully since I may well be busy doing other things I can't change Wednesday afternoon when it actually goes to air. But I know, in the case of last week's show, you can hear the same thing that Jeff effectively rebroadcast in the audio demo at www.nvaccess.org/nvda

In other words, if this is rebroadcast, it won't be the first time the news was old news before Main Menu got hold of it. Is that the impact of podcasting at work? Maybe so. Whatever it is, them's the breaks.

Cheers,
Dave

Yeah, but don't believe everything you read. (Smile.)

I just listened to most of the Podcast, particularly to Rob's description of the new Bookport. Now, I'm wondering what the big deal is about the upcoming Main Menu program. Were we not supposed to have found out about this Podcast? Why has everything been kept so quiet when this podcast was out there for all of us to listen to. Rusty, when did you say this was released?

The new BP sounds like it would be good to have. The Icon Braille Plus sounds even better , but I just spent a ton of money on a new laptop, so that will have to wait.

It's very late, so forgive my rambling.

Sorry to steel the show's thunder Jeff. I was just as shocked when a
friend told me about this over the weekend. I listened a couple of
days ago.
have fun!

Man, I *really* wish we had the compressed speech on the Bookport.
This would sure make listening to the lectures I record on my RCA recorder a
whole lot better.
My RCA digital recorder creates an MP3 file which is very handy to download
and transfer to the Bookport.
For that matter, I sure wish we could get a digital recorder to replace the
APH tape job with the speech compression features.
