Dear Gene, I have a question about scanning. Would you please contact me off list at airadil@xxxxxxxxxxxxxDon't panic, group, I'm not going to attempt scanning...not this week...There are twenties and thirties of validating mistakes I haven't made, yet.

Yep Cindy. Sanning gets to be kind of like rowing, flip, scan, flip, scan, flip scan, you get a rhythm going and all else kinda fades into thebackground until...holy hobgoblins, the book's been scanned! Then comes the fun part of proofing your own work, which of course, any veteran scanner canttell you is often tedious work. We often see what we know should be therein our own works, so it usually takes somebody else who hasn't been slavingover the scanner for 3 or 4 hours to spot the errors. Like missing pages. Lol. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Grandma Cindy" <popularplace@xxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, January 11, 2007 2:49 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Missing pages.chapterIt happens to the best of us, Jamie. I'm almost through validating an 800-plus page books and was so excited, thinking I was going to be finished last night, when I discovered 12 pages were missing--and the scanner is a good, conscientious person. When I scanned I found a fw pges missing and others double-scanned--I always chekced the pagination before submitting is how I found them. I think sometimes we, or at least I, zone out when scanning. And sometimes pages stick together--and for that matter, sometimes oages or even a chapter are missing from the print book. I was reading one book for myself and half the Prologue was missing--and it was important. I had to get another copy.
