" Printing even the C-Set should weigh in less than 15 pounds."

As long as you do it on 8 1/2 x 11 and not on 17 x 24 heavy weight glossy
paper like the "Great Atlas". I would think printed that big, you would be
back at 15 pounds :-)

Thank you,

Jimmy Ray

I see the star chart by Taki has received much discussion. But if you would
like a more detailed set there is another web site with more star charts and
they are free. In fact there are 3 sets. The first one starts with 25
charts; 107 in the second and 571 in the third.

The first one (A-Set) consists of 25 A4 charts showing stars up to 9
magnitude, with 70° maps in portrait format. The second one (B-Set) includes
107 charts up to 11 magnitude, with 30° charts. Finally, the third section
(C-Set) includes 571 charts (12° each) up to 12.6 magnitude, more powerful
than the Millennium Atlas, listing for instance all known planetary nebulae
and open clusters, galaxies up to 15.5 magnitude, double stars up to 12.5
magnitude, etc. The fonts are small but more readable than in the first
release.

While the maps are in A4 format they are vector-based and can be expanded to
fit any paper size, provided that your printer has enough resolution to
provide the appropriate quality.

The site is located at http://www.uv.es/jrtorres/triatlas.html

Printing even the C-Set should weigh in less than 15 pounds.

Here is a link to some star charts that go to 8th mag. They are in pdf
format and can be printed to use at the telescope. That said one can print a
chart and mark it for desired objects and write notes on the back. Then
another chart of the same page can be printed for a different project Ken
