Yes, and this problem also exists with Windows 10. Spectraview users must
use the USB port (if their monitor has one) to calibrate it. I'm running
Win 8.1 at the moment and have not encountered any problems. I'm not
planning on updating to Win 10 anytime soon.

The communication to the display via DDC tends to be a problematic area with
all displays. You just have to take a look though the FAQ's and bug reports
of various display color management products from X-Rite and others to see

It's interesting that a number of high end displays opt to provide a USB
connection as an alternative.
