Members and Friends of Austin Mennonite Church I pray the recent reminder of varying weather conditions across the earth has helped us better appreciate varied expressions of life and community. Whenever we think about
relationships various images come into our minds.
Voluntarily relationships develop because of
some commonly envisioned purpose, and they are sustained when
this purpose is
being realized. Involuntary
relationships are created by required associations and they may
or may not be
characterized by a commonly envisioned purpose.
All individuals because of their presence in the earth
become associated
with other individuals. Therefore
living in relationship with others is not a matter of choice. However, a choice is required to determine
how
relationships will be fashioned. All of
us must choose a pattern of behavior that acknowledges the
presence of
others. And the impact of this
behavior on the welfare of persons living in the earth with us
is an important
concern. The scriptures we have before
us today invite us to consider the nature of relationship and
the consequences
of living in company with others. The scriptures we will consider this next Sunday are Isaiah 58:1-12, Matthew 5:13-20, and 1 Corinthians 2:1-16. thought from these passages will compose the sermon, 'The spiritual; dimension of any relationship.' The Announcements follow below and the Worship Schedule for February 2011 is both copied and attached. May it go well with you. Sincerely, Garland Robertson Refreshments, February 6: Ivete and Patrick Sunday February 6
