Members and Friends of Austin Mennonite Church Here are three items of interest and opportunity: Laura and I will be away the weekends of Feb 20 and Mar 13: Thus far our tentative plans for identifying someone to prepare something for the sermon/reflection portion of the worship hour on Feb 20 have not materialized. If any of you would like to share during this time, please contact me as soon as possible. The suggested text is John 3:1-17, and the proposed question in our Lenten journey is, "Why did he teach them?" Of a related nature, the women's group is scheduled to meet on Thursday, February 17. Since Laura and I will be driving out of Austin on this afternoon, no one will be at our home on this evening--except our dog Kelleigh, and she neither hears nor hosts. Let the women discuss how they wish to proceed-meet somewhere else or postpone.. Finally, we will have a guest preacher, Floyd Born, bringing the sermon on Sunday, Mar 13. Floyd will be with a team from conference leading a meeting in Dallas on the Saturday before. John will arrive in Austin on Saturday afternoon, Mar 12. Will someone volunteer to meet John at the church Saturday afternoon and host him until Sunday services have concluded? He will then rendezvous with friends driving north from San Antonio on Sunday afternoon for his return to Wichita. Hopefully together we will be able to compose resolutions to these uncertainties. May it go well with you. Sincerely, Garland Robertson ...always hold firmly to the thought that each one of us can do something to bring some portion of misery to an end
