Nokia have very quietly introduced a self service option for their more up to
date phones including the N70. The latest firmware is 5.0609.2.0.1, dated
01.03.06, RM-84. You can get this information by pressing #*0000* from standby
mode. Likely as not if you had your phone in the last three month it will be
up to date.

The link for the N70 updater is:
http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup_en.exe

You will need Windows 2000 or XP sp1, live internet connectoin, USB cable (not
bluetooth) to do the update.

It's a fiddly and fraught process. Before you try it back up your phones'
memory. Then go to blindsea.com, mobile corner then third party applications
and download the Nokia updater tool. It took me over an hour and a half to
update the firmware and during that time you can't use your phone and if
anything goes wrong you're likely to destroy the phone completely - according
to the documentation.

Can you tell me how to do that? I haven't had my phone long (about 3 months)
so I'd expect it to be farily up-to-date, but I'm happy to give it a go.

Just wondered if you tried to update to the latest firmware on the N70? Just
a thought.

    Graham,

I've never managed to get the premium applications to work properly on my
N70 with Talks. I actually have Talks and Zooms, but I'm not sure if that is
significant. 'Extended profiles' don't change profile when they are programmed
to, and the other programs often won't even open. I've given up trying to use
them as my phone tends to freeze so I have to soft reset it. I'm not sure how
many others have experienced these sort of difficulties and if it is limited to
the N70?

    Hi all.

I currently have a Nokia N6630 and use one of the bonus premium
applications , Extended Recorder quite often with TALKS version 3.

Recently however I installed TALKS version 3 on an N70 and found that all
the premium applications would not work. When I went into the Extended
recorder, for example, I got a long delay. eventually after about 40 seconds or
so I could play and record files but if I chose an item from options e.g.
license or about the phone just froze again. Have others had this problem with
the premium bonus apps on the N70?
