I meant you can't do it according to the relevant screen with active standby 
on.  sorry if I confused the 2.

  I think it does, providing you have the active standby feature on.  when this 
feature is on you can't use the navigation pad for short cut keys from standby 
mode.

  Don't know what advantage the Active Standby option has but it can be turned 
on or off from tools, settings, phone.

    The End key still gets you to stand by mode in the N70. I tried updating 
mine and it just sat there and did nothing!
