February was typically unpredictable. After a good start of 23 birds on warm
air on Feb 9, the following weeks were mostly windy and cold with rain and
even snow on several dates....not good for migration.
The month ended with 71 birds and 7 days of coverage. Last year, with better
weather and 15 days of coverage, we recorded 199.
The totals, which are reported to the Hawkcount.org site, available through
the _www.cvwo.org_ (http://www.cvwo.org) website or other internet means

The Red-shouldered was a nice surprise on the 15th, as we find generally
only find a handful or so crossing the river all season. The first Osprey was
on
the 20th.
There have been few other non-hawk migrants so far, though yesterday, Feb
29th, the first 2 Fish Crows came across the river.
