As for a winner, bang for the buck, I think the best server in IBM's line is the x345. 2U, dual XEON, 6 U320 hard drive bays (but who's gonna use the on-board anyway, everyone gets RAID cards), 2x10/100/1000, ISMP management, good cable management, redundant fans and power supplies, very solid box. I've got a bunch of them, and they've all been rock-solid. The only thing I wish IBM had done was to build in a KVM like they did with the 330's and 335's.. But, the x330's and x335's give us the trouble, much more heat in those little boxes... It's been like 4 or 5 hard drives over the last 3 years out of like 40 of them, and one motherboard..
