Janet,

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I looked and it appears that I
sold my FG last year when I was thinning the heard...

I took a look at an FE2 that I still have. It was a camera of about the same
vintage as the FG.

On the FE2 the frame counter reset is just slightly to the right of the shutter
cock located on the body in the light seal channel. There is a slight
protrusion on the camera back that matches up in position with the reset. The
back holds the tab in and allows the frame counter to advance. When the
pressure on the tab is released the counter is reset. You might be able to
"excercise" the reset with a small screwdriver and get it freed up.

Good Luck!

Chuck

I went to look at mine and found it still has a half-exposed roll of film…
fortunately, I realized it before opening the back rather than after, but it
doesn't help your question. The googles (actually, DuckDuckGo) led me to
several places where you can trade US$5 for a download of the service manual if
you need it.
I haven't been shooting much 35 mm for a while, but this was my first SLR (high
school graduation present) and has always worked well for me. For the small
package and reasonable cost, it had some advanced features for that day
including OTF flash metering. I hope yours returns to full health quickly.

Yeah, guess I should make sure it's the right part before I squirt it down with
lighter fluid. :o) (I remember, I was told sparingly. I'm not really going
to hose it down.)

Actually nothing looks gunky. Light seals look good. There is the tiniest
litte pin at the top of the door, looking at it as you described below, on the
right side at the top. It does press in as if spring loaded. I'm thinking
that's it. Is it?

as well.

OK, I'm looking at it, open, with the counter window on the right, and the
side film goes into on the left. I'm not sure what I'm looking for that
should be protruding. Will it be on the left or right, top or bottom? I see
the little things that click when it's closed, both on the body and door. Is
it one of those?JanetOn Jun 21, 2014, at 9:41 PM, Speedy wrote:> On most Nikon
