Second, they will often have different color responses, depending on the photocell or photodiode they use. I find using a separate meter with an SLR to be a real pain. The only time I do it is if I have the SLR on a tripod. And usually, if I am going to the trouble of carrying a tripod around, I might as well put my 4x5 on top of it. ;-) -- .~.
