I used to use PMK, and I have a number of prints from various people
that were made with a PMK developed negative. It is economical, and the
stock solutions last a very long time. On the negative side, it is toxic
and a little touchy with regards to agitation. In addition the green
stain can lead to highlight compression when using VC papers. With some
combinations, such as HIE and PMK, one has to develop for a _very_ long
time to get decent highlight contrast. This really long development
leads to bigger grain and problems with developer oxidation....
Finally, the stain doesn't lend itself to straightforward density
measurements with a densitometer. In my experience, it was not worth the
effort, but obviously others have had great success with it. A friend of
mine made some prints with outstanding tonality from TMX developed in PMK.
