[pure-silver] Re: PMK

Other than for use with PMK, what are the advantages (if any) of an all
alkaline process for film development.

I'm curious, - Andrew.

I've only had two rolls go bad... HIE in PMK (too faint; underdeveloped)
and
I-forget-which in Ilfosol (which also dies suddenly). PMK has been
rock-solid reliable for me. (I stick to D-76 for HIE now; I can't
afford to
figure out how to make it work in PMK.)

PMK really requires an all-alkaline process for optimal results, but I
use
all-alkaline for all my film processing now, so that is no issue at all
for
me. I have read of many people who use acid fixers and get good stain,
although I haven't paid attention to whether they use an acid stop or a
water rinse.

My first PMK rolls were nice... so were my last, and the 100 rolls in
between.

Then again, I have never had XTOL die so perhaps I'm just lucky.
