Thanks for all your suggestions, Ed. Mack(my husband)d/loaded the Malware/ran it/everything was okay... Then he went online & did a couple of free virus scans, nada found there, either! He's starting to get used to the computer in the corner in here that I put OE on for him(but he does not like OE...he's never used anything except Outlook){on the other hand, I've never used anything other than OE and everytime I've seen him messing around w/his Outlook I think to myself: "self..aren't you glad you use OE?" haha To answer another of your questions...Mack right clicks & selects "save as" when he save his attachments in Outlook. And, yes.. AVG is on all 3 computers...he has no problems saving attachments w/the OE I set up for him; but the other two still have Outlook and still cannot save attachments. No other security programs installed on any of the computers. I just now noticed your last note...he is right now uninstalling AVG on one of the computers & will install Avira or Avast on it. Will let you know what happens when he gets that done. Thanks again. ...Paula Paula, Since all 3 computers have this problem I'm leaning more and more towards the possibility of a virus. I would suggest installing the free version of MalwareBytes' Anti-malware from http://www.malwarebytes.org/, have it Update to the latest definitions database, and then run a Full Scan. It couldn't hurt to also run one or two online antivirus scans. If the problem is not a virus, then no harm done, just lost some time. BTW, from what I've read and from comments from others, I believe AVG is OK, but not one of the best free anti-virus programs. I believe that Avira and Avast are probably the two best free ones. Well, even the best anti-virus programs miss some viruses, so when you think you might be infected, try one or more free online scanners of different brands than your installed one, to be safer. You can find several by doing a google search for "free online virus scan" (without the quotes). My favorites are the Trend Micro Housecall, Kaspersky, ESET, and F-Secure. Does he save attachments by double clicking on them or by right-clicking and choosing "Save as"? Hmm, it is interesting that he can get mail ok, but just can't save the attachments. That could be at a point where the AVG tries to scan the attachment. Is AVG on all 3 computers? Are there any other security programs installed? More than one anti-virus program installed could create problems. If you get the computer clean with the above scans and the problem is still happening, it might be a good thing to uninstall AVG and install either Avira or Avast anti-virus on one of the computers to see if that helps. I would definitely do the above scans first, to make sure you are dealing with a clean PC.
