That warning is just a way for the company to cover their a**. I use the program ritually at work to back up data that I absolutely cannot lose. Of course, as mentioned, I use it at home as well. But, work is where the data would cause a lot of grief if lost. About the only risk here is the backups going back. It does nothing to your system. Of course, like any software I recommend, please don't hold me to it. If it gives you a problem on your system, I'd hate to be blamed. So, as the company says, use at your own risk. But, I do use it often, love it, and if it wasn't freeware I'd actually pay for it... that's how much I love it. I tried the other one I mentioned, WinBackup, and I didn't like the way it saved the backups in its own compression... meaning you need WinBackup to restore it. With Back It Up, it compresses using ZIP, so any zip program can open it. ---Troth ----- Original Message ----- From: Sharon To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, September 14, 2003 4:42 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: DBX-files Troth, Hi. What follows is the EULA of the BackItUp program you recommended. All my paranoia originates with the great info in this group, so I feel justified in asking once more: Do you know this program? This is something I can trust?? Obviously I'm not expecting an iron-clad guarantee, but if you don't know the program, maybe I should just skip it? TIA, Sharon -------------------------------------- Hi there! §1: You install the program(s) on your own risk. If you choose to install the program its then your own fault if any damage is done to your computer or softwares after installation or when you run the program. §2 If anything else happens, §1 is in force. ps. Executable files is compressed with PEComapct. This can make anti virus programs that doesn't know about this compress format to report "suspicious virus" in file. Info about the PECompact found at: http://www.collakesoftware.com/ ds. ----- Original Message ----- From: "~OoO~" <SirTroth@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> | Several backup programs on the market to make the backups. WinBackup, by LIUtilities, is a popular one, but will cost you 40 bucks. A free one that I like and I use is called Back It Up, which can be attained as freeware from here: | http://w1.321.telia.com/~u32102551/| | ---Troth To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk
