Seeing that a few million folks open viruses every day and cause havoc on
the net, I'm glad that there are programs that are wiser than users about
opening attachments!

Until you adjust what settings you use, you know you can always rename the
EXE file to .TXT and then send it to yourself. It'll bypass security and
when it arrives, just reset the extension. No big deal.

Subject: [mso] exe files

Hi All
I have a new beef with Outlook. I sent myself an exe file from work to home.
Outlook informs me that it will not allow me to view or open com, exe or bat
files. Is there no way round this. I'm using 2003 beta. I have gone to
security and tried to lower levels in the zone settings as described in
help. The zone settings always go back to high and won't remain on medium or
anything else after clicking reset or ok. I'm not even sure if lowering
security levels (if eventually I figure out how to do it) is the way to view
the file I sent myself.
Can anything be done or is this another reason for me to want to stop using
Microsoft e-mail programs? If I sound peeved it's because of my resentment
of having any software company trying to decide for me how to set up and
work MY computer.
Errol
