The HOLE you mention has NOTHING to do with viruses like we're getting hit
with...it's just plain stupid/uninformed people.
You'll have to forgive me today...but I'm trying to get work done, but I
can't cos' I just opened my email and discovered 1668 virus messages I had
to delete! And after I just spend 20 minutes and two crashes (due to the
@#$% load of crap on the server) I FINALLY got it cleared enough to read
your complaint that it's someone else fault because they are trying to
protect you from yourself.
And then I go back to check my server and I now have over 1700 NEW
@#$%!%!##$&!$#!#$ VIRUS MESSAGE waiting for me to delete!!!!!!
Can you say round two!
If people would just not open the !#$%@ email from folks they don't know and
would pay some @#$%! attention to what's going on in the world...those of us
who are TRYING to use this medium for business would not have to waste their
Saturday mornings cleaning up all the crap from their mistakes!
As for Outlook blocking attachments...THANK GOD IT DOES! Or I might have
been hit with this crap from idiot people who send me jokes and other stupid
crap because they have nothing better to do with email than play games.
Sorry folks...I'm really pissed (can you tell!) I just checked and now have
1836 email waiting! @#$!%&&$## I'm assuming this is round two of this damn
virus cos' something has gone nuts out there and now I get to waste a very
busy day cleaning up this mess!<sigh>

Neil
Thanks
I used one of the addin programs and now I am in control.
Dian had I known there was that limitation I would have done something like
you suggested. It still doesn't make Microsoft right in my eyes. They should
be blocking up other "holes" rather than restricting users.

Well Errol, this is not exactly a new issue with Outlook, but are a number
of ways around it.
This page details them all:
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup/getexe.htm
It's really very simple to work around this.
FWIW, remember the day when OL and OE let all attachments through? For
Outlook that was pre OL2000 SP2.
People screamed blue murder that MS should do something to stop idiots
opening virus-laden emails, and that OL was an admin nightmare (and
remember, OL is primarily a business tool rather than for home users)!
Well, MS did do something about it, and now people (probably different
people) scream about how MS treats them as dummies...
You can't please all of the people all of the time...
Regards
