Hi Yard,
Curtis Deltzer had the original idea to try this out. I just suggested alex
try it to see if it truely did work. It did and it's definately a JAWS 8.0
issue. It's just so puzzlleing as to why its affecting some of us and not
others.

Rick

Hi Betsy,

A lot of us understood that, but people, Alex among them, were finding it
impossible to do this as they've always done. Remove the hotkey assignment
from the old version and use it for the new one. It's all you have to do,
ever. But that hasn't been possible until Rick suggested bypassing Jaws to
do the work.

I would love to hear how this came to be so. I'd like to understand it.
Meantime, what a maddening trip it's been, watching everyone go around and
around. Rick, good going!

I believe Rick is correct--it's a shortcut problem. You have to delete the
old shortcut before you can reassign that alt-control-combo.--Betsey Doane

I disagree, JAWS has absolutely nothing to do with properties on a desktop
icon. That is either a MS issue or someone hasn't cleared the contro+Alt+j
shortcut from another icon on the desktop.

We can't blame every single issue to JAWS.

Rich, I'm coming to the conclusion as others already have that it must be a
jaws problem.
Cheers.

Hi Alex,
Gave it a shot and came up short. Darn. Will give it more thought.

Richard, Unfortunately I find that that doesn't work either.
Cheers.
