Re: strange problem with jaws 8 and ctrl+alt+j hotkey

This doesn't have anything to do with whether a program is set to run normal 
or maximized.  Just for the record, that seldom has any effect on anything, 
though I guess it did a long time ago for Jaws and that's where the idea 
came from.

Anyway, it's not that mysterious.  The problem is that the hotkey you're 
mentioning is set up to look for Jaws in the folder of the version you just 
deleted from your system (though you don't have to do that, you know).  So, 
if you have an icon for your new Jaws version on the desktop, do this:

Windows key M or Windows key D to get to the desktop.  Now select the Jaws 8 
icon.

Now press your context menu key, first to the left of your right control key 
(or Shift F10 or the right mouse click button on your number pad).  Choose 
properties from the list you get.

In properties, tab down until you hear the place where you tell Windows 
where to look for the .exe file that launches Jaws for you when you use your 
hotky.

Now read this line, and you'll see it directs Windows to go to the folder 
where jaws 7 was and to look for the exec. file there.  Carefully, edit this 
line carefully so it points instead to the folder Jaws 8 has created for 
itself, and the exec. file in the porroper folder, as in the previous 
version of this field.

Press Enter to save and exit.

Now, you might do well to exit meverything but Jaws and restart your 
computer in order to make sure the change takes effect.  I'm not sure that's 
necessary.  Now try your customary hotkey again.  It oughta work now.

Hi List:
I've got a strange problem occurring with Jaws 8 on an xp pro laptop.   I 
uninstalled Jaws 7 after installing 8, and for some reason, I cannot get a 
hotkey ctrl+alt+j, or any other combination of that, to stick.  The window 
in the properties is set to run maximized, but when I apply the settings, it 
doesn't seem to take?  Fortunately, Jaws is set to come up on startup, so 
that's not a problem there, but it would be good to have that hotkey back, 
just in case.  Any ideas?
