Hey Shirley, Thanks for the reply. I have used strokes back when I was using Concept to help with schematic capture. I agree that once you can do a stroke first time every time, they are pretty fast and useful. I guess I'll give them a try again. Regards, Gary E. Gary One of the very nice things that I miss now that I am using Cadence is the Mentor on screen strokes. In most cases it is a matter of selecting the part, line or whatever and then (if I remember correctly) MMB and draw M on the screen. It takes a little while to get used to but it is very fast when you have it down. There are commands in the stroke file like: copy, mirror, rotate, delete, etc. I know Concept does have some strokes but since I am now a librarian and not doing actual schematic work I haven't had a reason to learn the strokes in Concept. Hey Austin, Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure I'll be going to EXP, but if it works more or less the same as Pads, it should be interesting! Regards, Gary E. Hi Gary, > So if you wanted to move around some parts, you would have to > chose a part, > get in the move command, move it, select another part, get in the move > command again, move it, etc., etc.? That sounds ridiculous! I hope it's > not that bad!! For PADS, and I can not speak of Expedition, as I have never used it, you do have to choose one or more parts, then select move and then move them. Select more parts, select move (right mouse button) then move them. Allegro is "modal", as in, you set the mode, say, "move", then you are in move mode until you get out of it. PADS does not work this way. You select something (typically using the selection filter) and right mouse to see what you can do with it. It really is quite easy to use. > Did you find that Allegro was easier to use after using Mentor, or vice > versa? I find PADS much easier, but not nearly as powerful.
