Only what is actually used needs to executed by your computer. I don't know
off-hand how large Haiku's /system/lib/ directory is, but probably not
smaller.
The fact that Qt is huge might just be that it's a very complete API, not
necessarily that it is bloated, and implemented inefficiently. In fact, the
stuff I've seen from Qt so far suggest its implementation is rather good.
