I didn't know that people added the word Chapter to headings. (Shrug) 
Apparently, there's much I don't know.

Although I do not do this, people add the word "Chapter" above chapter
headings to protect them from the Stripper, so I don't see why adding the
word "page" in front of page numbers would be a problem in principle.

But there is another problem. If the page number is at the top, I'll bet the
Stripper would remove the word "page", thinking of it as a header. Or, as
likely as not, given that the stripper doesn't always seem to be consistent,
it would remove it in some places and leave it in others, making it useless.
