That's precisely how I protect chapter headings, with page numbers. This method is proof against any changes in Stripper technology. <smile>. I don't believe in adding words to the text either, so I wouldn't add the word "page" beside each page number.

More to the point, the stripper and Bookshare acceptance tools are being rewritten and are coming live soon, hopefully before my next birthday. Soany new policies based on the current stripper will be a band-aid and couldcreate confusion affecting books for years, long after the initial reasonfor the policy has been removed. That's why I think the current practice ofputting a page number, a blank line, and then the chapter name or numberworks well and would still be acceptable if the books are processed with anynew Bookshare tools in the future. Inserting extra words changes the book, and the use of the word chapter above the chapter heading could end up looking really strange if the stripper isn't around to remove it. Unlike Roger, I don't want to hear the word "page" while I'm reading. I definitely wouldn't want to keep seeing it in Braille. I want to hear andsee nothing but the text, actual page number, and chapter headings. Doing a global removal of the word "page" wouldn't work very well since the book mayuse that word as part of the text. It would be one more thing to mentally filter out as background noise. Although I do not do this, people add the word "Chapter" above chapter headings to protect them from the Stripper, so I don't see why adding the word "page" in front of page numbers would be a problem in principle. But there is another problem. If the page number is at the top, I'll bet theStripper would remove the word "page", thinking of it as a header. Or, aslikely as not, given that the stripper doesn't always seem to be consistent,it would remove it in some places and leave it in others, making it useless.Evan To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxput the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
