Hi everyone:
Even though this is the "producers" list serve, I'll indulge in Project
Management for a moment.
While some say that PMP or PMI certification is not necessary, that depends
on who you ask and what experiences those people have. To work at a company
like Vicacom or Simon & Schuster, Directors of PM like to see people with
training and certification. I've been turned down for Project Management
jobs, because of that very reason. I would advise that if you really want to
get into PM, then head for the certification. Whether you use it or not (in
some environments, scrum is the order of the day), you will gain valuable
knowledge that will make you more competitive in the marketplace. If you
have formal, certified training in anything, that shows you went the extra
mile and that you are interested in taking your career to the next level. My
two cents.
