Hi Ruthie, I don't know where you work, but generally I would go and ask to get assigned to larger projects. Maybe as a second/support PM at first so you can learn. But honestly, I just got thrown onto larger projects and had to figure it out. Try to find someone either in your company or outside who is willing to coach you. Having someone that you can ask "stupid" questions that you don't want to ask your team is priceless. If you want some formal training I would suggest the Basic Project Management class at SCPS (if you are in NY). Otherwise I am sure they are similar classes. The class I took was based on the book "Jumpstart Project Management", which is really a good introduction. However, it is not web specific and some things can be tricky to translate over. I think understanding the formal PM process is important, but knowing the special requirements for websites is even more so. Also, start building your toolbox. And I think that is mostly templates for all kinds of tracking. Learn how to run good meetings, keeping notes, writing memos. All things needed to document, track and communicate on a project. The larger the project the more you will be exposed to executives you have specific communication needs. Good Luck!
