The head count for today's Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk was 21
birders and 42 bird species. Of note this morning was a pair of Barred Owls in
cedar trees near the parking lot; a female Kingfisher patrolling the pond area
at the beginning of the boardwalk; hundreds of waterfowl enjoying the newly
created wetlands; and among the hundreds of Common Grackles was one that was
apparently partially leucistic, showing white portions of primary and
secondary feathers, and noticeable white areas throughout the body.
