Regrettably, this report of the Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk is a
day late. Please forgive. 12 Birders tallied 38 species in warm, humid. calm
weather. Summer seems to have arrived, bringing with it slow birding activity
in the wetlands. Our highlight was a Yellow-breasted Chat singing in the trees
near the dam spillway. A small number of breeding Chats have become fairly
common in the meadows on the Park's north side, but this is the Monday Morning
Group's first encounter this year of one exploring the wetlands area.
Yellow-breasted Chat activity in the area around the Boardwalk Tower was fairly
routine some years ago, and then died off. One hopes for a return.
