Told by who? Wyse. They are trying to sell their product. Not exactly true. Oh and Yeah all of your printers are USB right? Do you see any legacy printer ports on their devices? Be careful with this. They are forcing the technology. Ask Wyse how easy it is to update the browser version or push out a patch when MS releases it every week. Darn...don't think it is very easy. Yes you can VERY effectively lock down an NTe/Xpe device. If it gets messed up you push out a new image and it reimages in two minutes. Don't rule out Neoware's clients either. Our units are being used with terminal emulation, citrix and IE 6.0 in a Public library setting. We don't want our users to be able to install anything. Can this be controlled if enbedded NT or XP is used?? We need 3270 locally as this is our companies bread and butter - if our citrix servers are down, our people can still work. The Browser locally is simply to remove a load from the citrix servers. I was also under the impression from Wyse that CE.NET can run IE5.5.. I take your point though - have heard alot of people complain about Wyse and since we are yet to purchase any thin client devices, will definitily have a look at the Netx range (just a pity they only have 1 model to choose from (based on what I saw on their web site)) Thanks Jim for your comments Rose ********************************************** This weeks sponsor Jetro Platforms Jetro Platforms Ltd. is an enterprise software developer, bringing a new era in server-based computing, secured internet access, and disaster recovery.
