Send interesting sightings- complete with species name, LOCATION, and contact information- to Kenny Anderson at kennya290@xxxxxxxxx -Rarities Found This Week- A Prairie Falcon was observed harassing Buff-bellied Plovers near the Sore Finger bridge on 971 in the Granger Lake area on 9/13.(Williamson) Marbled Godwits (3-4) were heard as fly-overs on 9/16 in Bastrop County, excellent detection of a tricky bird locally. Three American Golden Plovers were photographed at Sore Finger WMA at Granger Lake. One bird on 9/15 and three on 9/17. Very difficult fall bird in the circle. Three Zone-tailed Hawks were photographed at Westcave Preserve in western Travis County on 9/14. A single was reported at Mopac and the Colorado River on 9/16 (Travis). An Eastern Whip-poor-will was recorded 9/12 at a Bastrop County home- the bird lingered through 9/16. A Hutton's Vireo was reported a Travis County yard on 9/15 and another at a Guadalupe County property 9/15. A Scott's Oriole remains near a home in western Travis County, photographed 9/15. Two Red-headed Woodpeckers were at Buescher State Park on 9/19 in Bastrop County. Two Horned Larks were on Wells School Road on 9/13 in northeast Travis County. A Hooded Warbler was photographed at Warbler Woods on 9/16, surprisingly low numbers recorded each fall. -Birds to watch out for- A possible Wilson's Plover at Hornsby Bend on 9/18. A decent description but the viewers weren't fully committed to the identification of what would be an incredible find locally. Common Blackhawk which was "likely" on Bear Creek Road between 77 and Owl Creek Road in Fayette County north of LaGrange on 9/18. Is there a pair in this area? Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60 mile radius, centered from the Capitol in downtown Austin.
