That happened to one of our computers too. 1500 ufd 6 volt caps popped. A few years ago a Chinese cap manufacturer tried a new electrolyte formula which seemed to work great but from 6 months to a year and a half later the ESR rose suddenly and the caps overheated. This was a major supplier and huge numbers of motherboards were affected. Some motherboard suppliers offered a free exchange for this problem.
