More is not necessarily better. The drive and load circuits are designed with the transistor parameters, like current gain, turn on and turn off times, collector/base and emitter base capacitance, all in mind. So its sort of like a tuned circuit - change something enough and it gets screwed up. It would be great if there were something like a universal sub.
