Ok, I'll keep the 1879's AND the 1881's......any rhyme or reasoning on the
1881's getting hot??? Example: OK on Projos, bad on 25".......Ok on any
brand except this brand......

The 1881's are most likely not turning on hard enough to operate as a switch
under these circumstances.
