Thanks for all the expert advice. I will test the play and then try the 5$
route cause I just laid down $600 on some NOS and some repop Sigla glass.
Christmas came early for me this year. I know the Samba is my friend but the
TCB is my best friend : )

James, by all means try the $5 fix if you feel confident in doing it.  My
advice to you was coming from the fact that if the box has been leaking for
awhile and as you mention everything puddled out of it, you should probably
just bite the bullet and do the rebuild route.   That way you won't have to
futz with it again for quite a long time.   It's your call and if you have the
time to tear into it yourself, then it can be a fun experience to go through
the whole exercise of diagnosing which seal is broken etc.  If it is just the
bottom seal then it's a $5 and a hour or so of time so give it a shot.

Don't follow Will's advice.  It's costly, a lot of work, and not necessary.
