Mine had a drop underneath it about the size of a silver dollar so I topped it of the night before I was going to drive to the Ft. Worth show. The next morning I found a very large puddle at least 15" wide. I imagine it's mostly leaked out as there are no more drips... ________________________________ From: Denis Dodson <coocoo@xxxxxxx> To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, November 22, 2011 1:34 PM Subject: [tcb] Re: Steering Box Rebuild Mine leaks and I have been told they all do. Mine seeps, actually. We've replaced the center link pin and improved the steering quite a bit. The box just leaks, that I was wondering if they sold seals for it but unfortunately I haven't found any. I figured I'd wait for winter to take it off the road either way so I don't mind sending it off ________________________________ From:Denis Dodson <coocoo@xxxxxxx> To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, November 22, 2011 11:30 AM Subject: [tcb] Re: Steering Box Rebuild James, see if you can find a gasket set (there may not be one, but maybe) the box is very simple and easy to disassemble. If your steering is not bad and it’s only leaking I would go with replacing the seals. You will have to send your box in and wait for them to send you one back and they are $250 plus. You can get one from Bus Boys and just pay the core charge. That way you can R&R it in one go at a shop. I'd probably do the drag link and pivot bushing as well at that time since you'll be tearing it apart. I was told by a local mechanic that there is no literature available on the size of the seals in the box and the best way to do it would be to take it apart and source the parts after removing them to get measurements. Believe it or not this is the last thing I need done on this Bus to drive it long distance! -- My Email Moniker http://www.findinternettv.com/Video,item,1570570433.aspx
