hi Barry
i tried that last night and got the same reaction unlike my e90 where the mute needs to be on however i would like to know if the same applies to test messages i can't find my spare sim card and when i do it will have no credit could you send a text to your n86 in the same way as a voice call and let me know if the tune you have assigned plays
thank you
Yvonne

Hi Yvonne and all

Your mobile will talk when you get a call if you have it in silent mode with mute on keylock off. I've just tried calling my mobile from my landline and
hung up without answering the mobile and Talks announced missed one call.

So, this setting is fine if you're not going to be sat in meetings or in
church with your mobile in silent mode.

Cheers

Barry

hello Carla
thank you for email
yesterday i noticed a reply from Barry hill about the slider and it's
conjunction with the announcement of keypad locked
i tried his recommendation and all was sorted
i now have mute on keylock unchecked and it now says keypad unlocked as well
as locked

and of course i set the slider to answer calls on opening and ending calls
on closing as well as keypad locked on closing

thank you
Yvonne

Yvonne,
the rubber key locks or unlocks the keypad. You won't be able to get talks
to say phone memory. When switching on the phone, you are automatically in
phone memory unless you have told an application to save to the memory card.
So, all contacts will be saved to the phone. You can see what is on the
memory card by plugging the cable in to your computer and just use windows
explorer to look around. I don't recommend taking out the memory card as it
is a fag to do.
Hope this helps,
Carla.

hello carol
thank you for email reply
u s b idea sound the better method but do i need to install the cd that came
with the handset?
and i have asked a couple of people but not yet got an answer
the question i asked them is what does that little rubber switch on the left
side of the casing for and what does it do?
as far as i can see it is the only thing down the left hand side of the
casing

The memory card is particularly tricky to extract from the N86. I think
you're supposed to be able to push a switch to get it out but certainly
can't put it in without taking the back off; so I always remove the back if
I have to remove the card.

However, Eleanor is also right. If you have a USB cable and these
programmes for your phone, that's a better idea than removing the card.

She also right in that the File Manager does show you whether you are
looking at the card's contents or not, so give it a go!
