I don't know why or what gave me this idea but I thought that it was ok so long as the recording was only for your personal use. I was under the impression that what you said is completely true if you intend to share it or do anything else with it other than use it yourself, maybe to remember a note?

Hi. In addition to what you said, it is in fact illegal to record telephone conversations without the person on the other end's permission. It is a strange situation but if you and another person are in the same room and you are speaking on a mobile (or any other phone) with them and recording that telephone conversation and at the same time recording the conversation with a voice recorder, the telephone recording is illegal but the voice recorder is not. I don't really know what the difference is but I guess if you are with someone in person and recording the conversation it is probably considered the person being recorded would notice the recording device where as they might be totally unaware that you are recording their telephone conversation. I suppose it comes under the telephone bugging regulations. Walter.----Original Message----- From: talks-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:talks-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Eleanor Burke

When you are on a call you can record the whole conversation or you can choose to record part of it. However, might I say that you should bare in mind legal restrictions/constraints of where you are and that unless someone knows and gives their permission for you to record what they are saying, it will never be legally binding even though you have recorded it.

Amro I have 3 phones, N96 which is rubbish with total recall. Well partly rubbish, the person's voice comes out fine but not mine. This is a Vodafone. On the e71 which is unbranded it is OK and on the N95 which is unbranded and the standard N95 it is excellent. I wonder if it is something to do with branded phone. Is yours branded?

Hi Eleanor, I experimented further and you're right, my silent mode theory is rubbish. I did a quick google search for call recorder +nokia phones and got few hits back. One was

Happy hunting!

Sorry Eleanor, not much to suggest. However, it appears that TotalRecall switches the phone to silent mode when recording to suppress those pesky beeps. I haven't extensively experimented with this so check it out and perhaps you can report back and tell us if it worked.

If I come across any other recording apps I'll let the list know...

Cheers,
Amro

i am very disappointed with this and wonder if anyone has any suggestins. I can hear the other person perfectly but my own voice is breaking up dreadfully. I have tried various of the numbers from 0 to 100 but no difference. Another thing is that someone told me it does not make a bleep and it does bleep periodically as I can hear it and the person I am talking to can hear it also. I find it very strange that the volume is so terribly loud too when I am playing back and I do not seem to be able to lower the volume. Anyone else got any ideas. My phone I am tryhing on is N96 and that was able to be selected from the options to download in the trial. I know I can try another like the e71 or N95 but I would have liked it on the N96.
