Carol As the phone was just new to me and I hadn't really anything on it apart from TALKS, I didn't back up. Naughty of me I know but as it turned out not necessary. I went to menu/tools/utilities/device manager. It gave me my software version and I think I pressed options and there was an option to check for updates. I can't remember the precise steps, but TALKS talked me through it, asking if I wanted to update, what connection point to use and so on. When it was finished the phone restarted and everything, including TALKS, was still there. If you do have this option on your phone, perhaps it would be best to back up just in case it doesn't work as mine did and you'll come after me with a big stick! It was as simple as that and no scary PC Suite! You backed up your phone's memory onto card. Now, when you went to menu/tools/utilities/device manager, what happened then? Were you given the option to go online at that point and find an update? Did your phone find it automatically, or did you have to search the net yourself? Once you found it, what happened then? Most importantly, once the upgrade was done, how did you then get your pstuff from your memory card back on to your phone? At what point did you have speech? Did you manage this totally with no sighted help? Sorry for so many questions. I guess I'm not quite as brave as you are ... but I'm thinking I'd really like to do it as mine is quite a long way back now. Thanks for any further help you can give. -- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ---- Original Message ---- From: Barbara Wilson To: talks-uk Sent: Tuesday, March 17, 2009 11:23 PM Subject: [talks-uk] Firmware Update > Not sure how many newer phones this is a feature on, but I am using > the N79.
