Hi Eleanor,

Sorry I don't have an N95 to tell you where to find Memory Card exactly.
However here're two examples-

E65: menu, tools, it's the second item on the list.
N73: menu, tools, it's the fifteenth on the list.

Come on, it can't be that hidden on the N95! *Smile*. And re the N95 8gb, maybe
just look for Storage or whatever the internal 8gb memory is called. I'm just
making a guess here though.

Not sure about sending your mobile to Vodafone but if you have sighted help
it's quite an easy procedure to update firmware.

About applications, as I said, you can't back them up they have to be
reinstalled. Just like reinstalling Windows on a computer, you can backup data
but programs have to be reinstalled. Only exception is some of the newer phone
models like the N79 as Barbara confirmed and if memory serves the N82. I'm
quite sure the N95 is not one of them unfortunately.

HTH,
Amro

was not there!!!

Also I have an 8GB one too, so how will I find that memory for backing-up
also?

Sure. To backup your phone's memory to your memory card, find the "Memory
Card" menu item from your phone's menus and select it. Then press Key One to
bring up the Options menu and choose "Backup phone mem". Now just wait til
Talks says backup is complete. All is done and you have a backup of everything
that is on your phone's memory such as contacts, messages etc on your memory
card.

After your first backup, when you go into the Options menu you'll see a new
item that says "Restore from card" to restore your phone's memory.

Note that this doesn't backup applications installed on your phone to your
memory card. And I don't think that you can do that.

This works on all the Nokia's I've seen so I assume it's the same procedure
on the N95/N96.

It's a good idea to backup your phone from time to time just in case
something happens and your phone stops working or something. Then you have a
backup of your contacts!

I haven't used PC Suite to backup my phone to my computer before I'm afraid
but I reckon it'll be fairly easy to do.

    HTH,
    Amro

Ihave never used PC Suite but I have it on my PC. You can send to me off list

        Hi Charles,

After you update your firmware you will have to reinstall everything
from scratch. You need to backup your phones memory before updating too as all
your contacts, messages, documents and everything else on the phone will be
wiped out. Updating the firmware is just like reinstalling Windows on a
computer. I hear that the N82 returns your installed applications after a
firmware update but I'm not sure about the N96. What ever the score is with the
N96, I would most definitely backup before updating! Do you know how to backup
your phone's memory?

To update you'll need sighted help as your phone will have no speech
during and after the update. You won't be able to install Talks before setting
the time and date on your phone when you're done.

You can update using Nokia PC Suite which can be downloaded from the
Nokia site if you don't already have it.

If you have a pair of eyes to help, updating is a fairly
straightforward procedure. It's always a good idea to keep your phone's
firmware up to date.

        HTH,
        Amro

          Hi,

          I have a Nokia N96 with Talks 4.0.

My Firmware Version on the phone is 11.0 and I am wondering how to
update this to a later Firmware version? Can this be done from the phone
itself, or do I need to download an application to my PC and then link to the
phone? I tried downloading Nokia Firmware Updater from the www.blindsea.com
site, which I was told to install to my PC in the first instance, however, when
I tried to install it, I was told that the .EXE file was not a valid WIN32
application.

Also, If I am updating my Firmware (my phone is not a Vodaphone one),
will I have to re-install Talks 4.0, the synthesizers which go along with it
(e.g. Vocaliser) or anything else? I have just installed Quick Office 6; will
this need re-installing after updating the Firmware?

I am currently having issues getting Daisy2Go to work on my phone
with Talks 4 and wonder if, by updating the phone's Firmware, it might resolve
this?

          Many Thanks, With Kind Regards,
