and what a total waste it would have been had houston simply
"disappeared." i and many others had great success with dogs coming down
from houston
and had no issues with hips. this all goes back to the
throw-the-baby-out-with-the-bathwater syndrome - that makes no sense. what
does make sense is
to use a spectacular animal like houston and keep careful track of the
progeny for a number of generations. at least hips and elbows are issues that
can be seen. i really have a hard time understanding why many demand OFA
H&E but will knowingly and willingly breed to a dog or use a bitch that is
known to pass on life threatening health issues or temperament problems.

We all remember how beautiful Sel Ch. Houston of Wildwood ROM was. He
didn't pass OFA and a large number of his progeny were OFA good or better.
