Then what are you attempting to do with your attacks on the foundations of our
breed?
We all want health and temperament; however, in addition, we want our dogs as
closely
as possible to conform to the standard. It would be ludicrous to believe one
could wait
until a dog is ten years old to decide to breed to him. I remember seeing
Houston walking
into the hotel the night before his first national. It was not necessary to
see him in the ring
in order to recognize greatness. The line breedings I made on Troll and Axel
through
Bonnie Bergere and Field Marshal produced no health or temperament problems
nor have the several line breedings in recent years on Boss. The aim must
always be for
quality of the total dog and conformation to the standard.

Already explained this bought GSD's for my boys that were never planned to be
bred. Listened to
my vet to wait to spay the female went to work with husband deciding no harm to
let them together.
As far as poor structure they were of working lines not show lines. The working
Police lines the sire came was
were bred to work so didn't care about the show ring as doubt very few would be
Police Officiers.
As I wanted protection chose the working lines not American Show lines even
though
the sires pedigree went back to them on the dam side but she only lived to be 7
1/2. The
sire lived to be a old dog with no problems I know of.
The white GSD dam of the sable female also went back to working lines so bought
her for that
as my boys were not interested in showing dogs either. Remember I showed
horses back
in 1990's not dogs. Yes, they were closely linebreed but not planned and I
paid the price as
I lost 4 to the disease Hemangiosarcoma to what the sire died of at 11 and one
to DM of what the dam
was lost to in the dams lines. So see I know first hand what linebreeding too
close results in.
Has anyone ever counted some of the GSD's as I read someone did and got a
thousand
crosses back to the same dog.

But who said to throw out Alex and Troll I was just
commenting
on all the linebreeding that was done on these Houston
and Gotti .
Go back and count all the times that Alex is in both dogs
pedigree.
I thought both Alex and Troll were wonderful GSD's it is
not
their fault how breeders overused them. Still will not
understand
why a few people can not see this reasoning.
