When I was on the Board of the Greater New Haven GSDC in Connecticut, I
asked LaMar to give one of his "famous" speeches. At that time
technology wasn't what it is today. I have the recording from that
night somewhere in storage, but it's barely audible. However, LaMar had
dinner with us at my house. He was by far one of the most fascinating
people to talk to. This very subject of spooky dogs came up in
conversation. He said, "Give me the spook any day to show, because they
fly around the ring." Now he wasn't promoting the spooky dog. What he
meant was IF A BREEDER IS GOING TO BRING TO HIM A SPOOKY DOG, then he
had no problem showing it and getting it to move. He didn't mean to go
out and breed to the spooky dog. He was just commenting about what
breeders ask him to show and that the spooky dog you don't have to coax
to move. Another well known handler back then as well as now, told me
one time "I can finish anything!" He said that to me after I showed him
a dog with two missing teeth. Barbara
