Lyn- What this was was a top handler telling us that a spooky dog will move
with more "enthusiasm" than most sound dogs. Also at that time in our history,
temperament tests were rarely done by judges so it was easier to slip an
unsound dog past a judge. Remember, he was speaking as a handler who was paid
to win and not as an owner who had to live with the dog.
There is a quote by van Stephanitz that goes something like this, "fear lends
wings". Remember the three things emphasized at the GSDCA judges seminars. It
must LOOK like a German Shepherd, it must ACT like a German Shepherd and it
must GAIT like a German Shepherd. D.D.
