I seriously doubt that Lamar meant people to use spooks in their breeding
programs.
Quite a few of us have copies of the "Lamar tapes." He does talk
about spooks on those tapes, but I don't remember him advocating using them
in a breeding program. He also says that any spook, any dog, could be
trained to pass a temperament test, but that that wouldn't mean the dog had
a good temperament.
It's very possible that Lamar didn't say "never use a spook," which I'm
sure has been mis-translated into "use a spook".....in fact, it's likely he
made some comment about how using a spook (without saying "do it") might
make the next generation appear to have more "attitude" -- I'd have to dig
the tapes out and watch them again (for the thousandth time).
Whether or not you were one of the man's fans, you have to give him
credit as a true student of the breed who also loved the breed...personally
I don't remember him being fond of spooky dogs for any purpose at all.
