Scintilla does support this, but you have to do the grunt work.  Neil Hodgson
usually says at this point "look at the SciTE source".  Which is actually
a nicely written portable piece of C++, IMHO.

I'd like to ask Garrett what thoughts he has on a GTK version of 
ScintillaNET.  I'm going to be doing some experiments in this direction.
