Not only is downloading something like this a hoax, but it is in itself a malware, whether a virus or spyware. Clicking on it poses a security risk. The best thing to do when you see a popup that says you need to download an antivirus or antispyware program is to click on the x that is in the upper right-hand corner and close it. Never click on the ad. You don't really nee to launch the program for the pop-up to appear on your screen, though this would appear that a spyware program was sneaking right through your internet explorer. The best thing to do is restore your computer to a previous date, and to remember to never click on one of those ads. Spybot may not be able to take care of it, as it shows up as an anti-spyware program, not spyware itself. James R.
