Do you still have it, Christine?  The UPS does not need software 
installation.  All you have to do is plug it in the wall and plug your 
computer and other externals in it... that´s all!  And, its not dependent on 
systems... but you are right... it is heavy :o)

Arent they pretty expensive?  Just wondered, I bought one few years back and
it even came with software with it, I never did get around to trying it and
then my newer systems did not go with the software that came with that.  It
was really heavy to pick up I remember that.
I would like if I should get one of these when I get my new computer.  Right
now, just using a surge protector.  We do get many electrical storms here.
