Thank you for your reply.
I spoke to SIL and he says he has a few customers with problems at present. 
You could be right about the power issue as we have just had very bad 
weather with power cuts. There is another storm predicted for tonight and 
tomorrow!
In the meanwhile I have hooked up the laptop onto the 22"  monitor and will 
wait until SIL can get to see me early next week.
